The workshop will cover the basics of writing for children - determining genre, solicited versus unsolicited submissions, the value of critiques, how to approach editors and agents, researching the market, what happens before, during and AFTER the sale.
Participants are requested to bring two copies of the first 5-10 pages of a sample manuscript, the name of their "dream" editor, a sample cover letter, and be prepared to discuss how and why they chose (or want to target) a specific publisher. If time permits we will read and discuss individual projects.
